Part of the Moray Firth snorkel trail!
This is a pebble beach right outside Macduff Marine Aquarium, offering a great range of tide pools to explore.
While snorkelling in the lovely kelp gullies, look out for many colourful and interesting species – you might even see octopus, the aquarium occasionally releases them here!
Plan a visitBy road
Travel north through Macduff, heading to the coastline where Macduff Marine Aquarium is located.
From the aquarium car park, walk behind the sea wall and down to the rocky shore. Confident snorkellers can enter the water right off the pebble beach (note that the ground is uneven here, with large pebbles on a somewhat steep incline). For easier access to the water, walk west to reach the beginners snorkel zone.
Electric vehicle charging is available in the car park outside Macduff Marine Aquarium.
Access Google Maps location pin here (TBC).

Other considerations
Please be a responsible snorkeller; do not touch, take or tease wildlife.
This area is home to internationally important colonies of breeding seabirds (April-September) and seals (harbour seals June-July, grey seals August-December). Please behave responsibly and stay distant, wildlife should be left undisturbed. For more information see sealalliance.org and nature.scot. Avoid disturbing ground-nesting birds and livestock; follow the Outdoor Access and Marine Wildlife Watching codes.
