Sea gooseberry Pleurobrachia pileus

This glimmering comb jelly is small and oval shaped with two long fishing tentacles. These are up to 15-20 times the length of the body (up to 50 cm long)!

Behaviour

Plankton is their main food source which the feed on along the surface of the water in the Spring and Summer when the days are longer and the sun sits higher in the sky.
