In this particular species, its green colouration comes from an alga which lives within the sponge in shallow sunny areas. In more shaded areas, it can be a more beige colour.
Behaviour
Sponges are not mobile and attach to hard substrate. They are shaped to create a flow of water through their body, from which food particles can be filtered out.
