Pepper dulse Osmundea pinnatifida

A small red alga with tough flattened fronds.

Behaviour

Its colouration is highly variable depending on where it is on the shore. Plants higher up the shore are generally smaller and yellow-green in colour due to more sun exposure, while those lower down the shore tend to be a darker reddish-brown.
