Snorkel Locations

Explore Scotland’s Snorkel Trail Network

Experience the wonder beneath the waves on one of our award-winning snorkel trails. Together with coastal community groups and organisations, we have selected our favourite snorkel sites from all over the country that showcase the amazing diversity of Scotland’s seas.

Bursting with marine life, you could see everything from small sea squirts, sponges and anemones right up to dolphins, whales and harmless basking sharks.

Alongside helpful beach maps with beginner and advanced snorkel areas, these leaflets highlight local facilities (e.g. kit hire, parking, toilets and showers), family-friendly attractions (.e.g. visitor centres, parks and picnic areas), accessibility information and community-led marine citizen science opportunities – all for a wonderful day out!

Review your snorkel experience

Use Google Maps to:

  • navigate to the snorkel sites
    • each snorkel site webpage contains a Google Map pin
    • you can also search for them directly on Google Maps using the naming system: ‘Snorkel insert site name (insert snorkel trail name)’ eg ‘Snorkel Inganess Bay (Orkney Snorkel Trail)’
  • leave a Google Review of your experience (and read those of others!)

Plus, don’t forget to tag @ScottishWildlifeTrust on socials using #ScottishSnorkelTrails to share your snorkel adventures with us – we’ll re-share our favourites on our main channels while offering fun feedback, event invitations and maybe even some prize giveaways!

Happy snorkelling!

Inganess Bay is a really stunning snorkel spot, with the impressive shipwreck being easily accessible for those confident in deeper water. An incredible experience, the ship is now an artificial reef for so much marine life!

Guidebook: Snorkelling Britain

Back in 2022, we were approached by Snorkelology to support the creation of a snorkel guidebook of Britain. Our Living Seas team rose to the challenge, ensuring that Scotland’s Snorkel Trail Network could be well represented to champion members’ inspiring work and the importance of responsible ecotourism.
After years of careful coordination and unforgettable snorkel adventures, we’re delighted to share that the book, Snorkelling Britain, is now available! The book contains 100 snorkel spots (24 from Scotland, with at least 1 site from every snorkel trail featured) alongside beautiful photographs, snorkel advice and more.
Thank you to authors Emma and Gordon Taylor!
